Bulldogs Open Indoor Slate at Blazer Invite

The Blazer Invite is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Friday with the women’s shot put competition
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State track and field program will open a new season on Friday as the Bulldogs kick off the new campaign at the UAB Blazer Invite in Birmingham.

Forty-five student-athletes will represent Mississippi State across 27 total running and field events during the one-day meet, with 22 of those being newcomers for the Maroon and White.

"As always, it is exciting to have an opportunity to compete, especially when it's the first one of the season," head coach Chris Woods said ahead of the indoor opener. "Our goal this weekend is to execute our competition plans and to compete with pride at the highest level no matter who we are competing against."

The Blazer Invite is set to begin at 10 a.m. CT on Friday with the women's shot put competition, which will feature Jhordyn Stallworth and Tafada Wright representing the Bulldogs. Running events will kick off at noon on Friday, concluding with the 4x400m relay at 5:30 p.m. CT.

Friday's meet marks the beginning of three straight meets scheduled over the next three weekends for the Bulldogs, including back-to-back meets held at the CrossPlex in Birmingham.
