Dawgs Fall In Series Finale at No. 10 Texas A&M

State now returns home for the last four regular-season games of the season
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mississippi State (25-27, 9-18 SEC) fell in the series finale to No. 10 Texas A&M (33-16, 17-10 SEC) by a score of 8-2 on Sunday (May 15) at Blue Bell Park in College Station.
Mississippi State took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but Texas A&M answered right back with a three-run bottom half of the inning. Another three-spot by the Aggies in the sixth extended the lead to 6-1 for A&M. The Dawgs added a run in the seventh, but A&M put up two more in the eighth to complete the scoring on the day.
Cade Smith (4-3) started for the Diamond Dawgs and was charged with the loss despite allowing no earned runs (3 unearned) on four hits in 4.1 innings. Mississippi State used a total of seven pitchers on the afternoon.
Both Kellum Clark and Luke Hancock recorded multi-hit games with two hits apiece, while Kamren James and RJ Yeager each had base knocks in the contest.

Mississippi State plated the first run of the game after Kellum Clark reached on a two-out single and later scored on a Kamren James single combined with a Texas A&M error in the fourth inning.

Texas A&M wasted no time responding when Brett Minnich led off the inning with a single and came around to score and tie the game on a fielder's choice and MSU error. Ryan Targac then drove in the go-ahead run on a single up the middle. Targac later scored the third run of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Trevor Werner.

The Aggies added to their lead in the sixth when the first two batters in the inning reached via walks before back-to-back RBI singles by Kole Kaler and Trevor Werner. Kaler later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by Dylan Rock.

RJ Yeager led off the seventh with a triple in the right-center gap and came home to score soon after on an RBI single by Luke Hancock to cut into A&M's lead.

Jack Moss (BB) and Dylan Rock were issued a pair of two-out free passes before Austin Bost drove in both runs with a double down the left field line to extend Texas A&M's lead.
