Dawgs Head to Oxford for Road Meet

OXFORD – The Mississippi State track and field program will hit the road once again as the Bulldogs head north to Oxford for the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by conference foe Ole Miss. The meet is the second of four-straight road meets in the month of April for the Maroon and White.

Other Southeastern Conference schools competing this weekend are Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Belmont, Bradley, Christian Brothers, Embry-Riddle, Furman, Georgetown, Lamar, Lipscomb, Little Rock, Memphis, Mississippi Valley State, New Orleans, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Southern, Southern Illinois, Toledo, Tulsa and ULMÂ are the remaining schools in attendance for the weekend.

The meet begins at 1 p.m. CT with the women's heptathlon, featuring Shayla Broughton, Asia Poe and Aley Woodberry. Field events for Mississippi State will also begin at 1 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs get going on the track at 7 p.m. CT in the women's 1500m. State will then wrap up Day One in the women's (9 p.m. CT) 5000m.

Eighteen different Bulldogs set personal bests in Baton Rouge, La., at the Battle on the Bayou (April 2). Shayla Felder set two PRs in the women's 200m and 400m. MSU also finished first in seven events.
