- Mississippi State enters the week with a 24-17 overall record through 41 games, including an 8-10 record in SEC play following last weekend's series win on the road at Ole Miss.
- Mississippi State and Ole Miss will meet for the 477th time for the Governor's Cup on Tuesday in Pearl. The Diamond Dawgs own a 262-209-5 edge in the all-time series.
- State is 18-4 in the last 22 meetings against the Rebels (dating back to 2016), including a 4-0 record in the Governor's Cup over that stretch. Tuesday will mark the first meeting between the two teams in the Governor's Cup since 2019 when State defeated Ole Miss 8-1 in Pearl. The previous three meetings were decided by two runs or less.
- State is currently ranked seventh in the country and second in the SEC with 75 home runs on the season. Freshman Hunter Hines leads the team with 13 home runs, while three other Dawgs are tied for second with Kellum Clark, Brad Cumbest and RJ Yeager each with 12 home runs on the season.
- MSU's pitching staff enters the weekend ranked third in the SEC and seventh nationally in strikeouts per nine innings (11.1). Preston Johnson leads the team with 87 strikeouts in 10 appearances (9 GS), while he is ranked first among SEC pitchers and 11th nationally in strikeouts.
- State outfielder Brad Cumbest leads the team with a .340 batting average through 41 games. Cumbest was named the SEC Player of the Week on Monday after hitting .538 with two home runs and two doubles to help lead the Diamond Dawgs to a 3-1 record last week. He capped off the week by hitting the game-winning home run in the top of the 11th inning to clinch a series win over Ole Miss in Saturday's finale in Oxford.
