Mississippi State came from behind twice to tie the game in critical innings
Mississippi State came from behind twice to tie the game in critical innings – once in the seventh and again in the ninth when Hunter Hines homered down the left field line to make it a 5-5 game and send it to the 10th inning. In the bottom of the 10th, Lane Forsythe reached on a single, went to third on a two-base error before Kamren James hit a sacrifice fly for the Bulldogs to clinch the win. Forsythe recorded a career-high four hits in the game to lead the Dawgs.
For the Bulldogs, KC Hunt (1-1) received the win after coming on in relief in the ninth and allowed no runs on one hit with five strikeouts to secure the win during his two innings on the mound. Pico Kohn pitched the first two innings allowing four hits and two runs that were both earned.
Five Dawgs followed Kohn – Parker Stinnett, Drew Talley, Brooks Auger, Jackson Fristoe and Hunt. Stinnett allowed one hit and one run with one strikeout during two innings on the mound. Talley collected three strikeouts and allowed only one hit in two innings on the mound while Auger pitched one inning and allowed no runs or hits with two strikeouts. Fristoe pitched one inning before Hunt and allowed two runs on three hits.
Offensively for the Dawgs, three players collected multi-hit games including Forsythe who went 4-for-5 on the night. Logan Tanner went 2-for-5 as well as Hines who collected his 10th home run of the season during the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, 5-5, and force extra innings. James hit a sacrifice fly to right center to walk-off the game, 6-5, after 10 innings of play.

UAB takes an early lead in the game after a Brandon Willoughby double down the right field line followed by a Christian Hall single up the middle which scored Willoughby. Caleb Floyd reached by after being hit by pitch followed by a Logan Braunshweig single through the left side to score Hall.

Mississippi State scored one run to get on the scoreboard after a Luke Hancock double down the right field line and a Logan Tanner single up the middle to score Hancock.

The Blazers advanced their score by one thanks to a Josh Sears home run down the left field line.

The Bulldogs narrow the gap by a run, 3-2, after a Slate Alford single up the middle then he took second on a passed ball and a Lane Forsythe single to shortstop to advance Alford to third. RJ Yeager singled to left center field which scored Alford.

Mississippi State ties the game after a Forsythe single to center field and Yeager reached on a hit by pitch followed by a Kamren James double down the left field line to score Forsythe.

Top Ninth
After two innings tied at 3-3, UAB scores two runs to take the lead after a Floyd walk, a Braunschweig double down the left field line which advanced Floyd to third. Matthew Golda doubled down the right field line to score Floyd and Braunschweig.

The Bulldogs rally in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, 5-5, after Hancock singled to right center field followed by a Hunter Hines home run down the left field line to score Hancock.

Mississippi State walks it off in the tenth after a Forsythe single up the middle then advanced to third on a throwing error by UAB's pitcher Jordan Bonk. Yeager drew a walk followed by James who hit a sacrifice fly to right center which scored Forsythe.

Mississippi State will host Auburn during Super Bulldog Weekend with the series opener set for 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, April 14, at Dudy Noble Field in Starkville. Game one of the series will air on SEC Network while all three games of the series can be seen on SEC Network+.
