Four-Meet Road Swing Begins for MSU
April 01, 2022 | Track & Field
BATON ROUGE, La. – After opening its outdoor season last weekend at home, the Mississippi State track and field program begins a four-meet road swing, starting with Saturday's Battle on the Bayou, hosted by conference foe LSU.
Lindenwood, UL-Lafayette, McNeese State, New Orleans, Southern, Texas State and ULM joins MSU and LSU for this weekend's meet.
The meet begins at 9:30 a.m. CT with the women's discus, featuring Jhordyn Stallworth. The Bulldogs get going on the track at 1:05 p.m. in the men's 4x100m relay. State will then wrap up the meet in the women's (3:50 p.m.) and men's (3:55 p.m.) 4x400m relay.
The Bulldogs enter Baton Rouge with four athletes currently ranked in the top-15 nationally – after just one meet:
MSU set a total of 18 personal bests across the three-day Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays (March 24-26). The meet also included 40 total top-five finishes, and 12 total events were won by the Maroon and White.
"I expect to see the team rise to the level of competition and finish the meet on both the men's and women's side. I want to see a strong finish, and I also want to see us continue to add athletes to the NCAA regional championship list. As always, we appreciate the support from the community and our administration. These kids work really hard for themselves and for their teammates, but more importantly – they work hard to make sure Mississippi State University and our fans have a good showing every meet."
