Bulldogs Host Twin Bill Against Tennessee Tech

STARKVILLE – No. 19 Mississippi State will close out its eight-match homestand with a Sunday twin bill against Tennessee Tech.

The first match with start at 10 a.m. and the second is scheduled to follow at 2 p.m.

The Bulldogs are off to a 5-1 start to the season following a doubleheader sweep of Memphis (4-1) and North Alabama (4-0) on Thursday.

During that sweep, 22^nd-ranked Florian Broska cracked the school's all-time wins list passing Herman Pappas (1981-84). Broska now has 90 career victories, which is the 10^th in MSU history. With two victories on Sunday, Broska could pass Per Nillsson (1991-94) and tie Mark Thompson (1977-80) for eighth all-time.

Broska has won 10-straight singles matches dating back to the fall and has three victories over ranked opponents this spring. He defeated No. 112 Oscar Cutting of Memphis in straight sets on Thursday.

Nemanja Malesevic also earned a ranked win on Thursday with his straight-set victory against No. 88 Jeremy Taylor of Memphis. It was Malesevic's second ranked win this spring.

State is 5-1 all-time against Tennessee Tech and 4-1 in Starkville. The Bulldogs won the previous meeting 5-2 at home in 2020.

The Golden Eagles' only victory in the series came in 1971.

Tennessee Tech enters Sunday's action with an 0-2 record after shutout losses at Wake Forest on Jan. 9. The Golden Eagles have had three cancelations and one postponement since.

Tennessee Tech features the nation's No. 38 doubles tandem of Mike Berghaus and Elias Grubert.
