Waden Earns AVCA South All-Region Honor

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's volleyball right side Gabby Waden continues to receive recognition by earning a spot on the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division l All-Region Team.
"We continue to be proud of Gabby and all she has accomplished in her career here," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "Gabby has left this program better than she found it and will go down as one of the best attackers in Mississippi State volleyball history. It is fantastic news to hear that she was selected to the All-Region Team, because she has certainly earned it this season! Congrats to Gabby and Hail State!"
Waden, who was recently named to the All-SEC Team for the third straight season, also earned a spot on the South All-Region Team for the third consecutive year. Waden led the Bulldogs in almost every offensive category this season, registering a team-best 408 kills and an average of 3.78 kills per set with a .284 attacking percentage.
She also totaled 70 blocks on the year and ranked second on the team with an average of 0.65 blocks per set. Overall, Waden accounted for 452 points and 4.19 points per set during 2022.
A total of 210 student athletes were named to the 10 All-Region Teams, including honorable mention selections. Each of the selection committees also named a Region Player of the Year, Region Freshman of the Year, and Region Coach of the Year. Players named to the All-Region Teams are eligible for selection to the AVCA Division l All-America Teams, which will be announced Dec. 14.
