Volleyball Heads To Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State volleyball heads to Tuscaloosa to take on Alabama on Saturday at Foster Auditorium.
First serve on Saturday is set for 2 p.m. CT and will be aired on SECN+. Live stats will be available through StatBroadcast. Â
The Bulldogs will face Alabama for the 70th time, with MSU having won the last matchup with a 3-0 sweep over the Crimson Tide on Nov. 3, 2021, in Starkville.
"For this weekend, I want the team to play hard, stay focused and be disciplined," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "Those are the big things we are focused on in practice right now. We need to stay together and stay focused as a group. That is a big thing with us right now - being disciplined with our system, trusting the game plan and executing at a high level."
Mississippi State ranks among the SEC's top five in digs per set (15.74 – 1st) and assists per set (12.28 – 5th).
Right-side Gabby Waden has belted a team-leading 3.59 kills per set on a .289 hitting percentage. She has totaled 10-plus kills during 20 of her last 22 outings. Waden has produced three double-doubles on the season, her latest coming at LSU (10/30) with 22 kills and 11 digs.
Lauren Myrick has powered home 2.63 kills per set to go along with 2.26 digs and 0.22 aces per set. Myrick has collected seven double-doubles on the season. Her latest double-doubles came at LSU (10/30) with 10 kills and 16 digs.Â
Shania Cromartie has registered 2.82 kills and 2.22 digs per set. Her 2.57 kills are ranked third on the squad behind Waden and Myrick. Cromartie has cranked out eight double-doubles, with her latest coming at LSU (10/29) with 12 kills and 10 digs.Â
Sania Petties has chipped in 1.66 kills and 0.67 blocks per set, while compiling a .301 attacking percentage. Deja Robinson has tucked away 0.94 blocks per set, while recording 1.59 kills per set. Robinson has also registered a .336 hitting percentage.
Setter Gabby Coulter has distributed 9.07 assist per set on the season, which ranks eighth among SEC setters. She has garnered a team-leading thirteen double-doubles this year, with her two latest coming at LSU on Oct. 29 with 35 assists and 19 digs and Oct. 20 with 44 assists and 21 digs.Â
Lilly Gunter has sprawled out 10-plus digs in 19 of her 22 starts while wearing the libero jersey. Her 4.08 digs per set rank fourth among SEC liberos and first on the MSU squad.Â
