Volleyball Heads To Knoxville For A Pair Of Matches

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Mississippi State volleyball team heads to Knoxville for a pair of matches against Tennessee on Saturday and Sunday at Joan Cronan Volleyball Center.
First serve on Saturday is set for 3 p.m. CT, while Sunday's match will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday's match will be aired on SECN+, with Sunday's match being televised nationally on SEC Network. Both matches will also be available through StatBroadcast.
The Bulldogs and Volunteers have met 65 times, with State having won the last two matches against Tennessee.
"As we head into the final stretch of the season, we are excited for every opportunity to step on the court and compete," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "This is a big trip as we head into Knoxville, and we have had some intense and quality practices to prepare us for this series. I am excited for us to get to Knoxville and for us to get out there and play. This team is hungry, humble and are willing to work hard to find ways to win together. My hope is that we play with a lot of fight and pride."
Mississippi State ranks among the SEC's top five in digs per set (15.82 – 1st), assists per set (12.22 – 5th) and kills per set (13.12 – 5th).Â
Gabby Waden has belted a team-leading 3.62 kills per set on a .286 hitting percentage. She has totaled 10-plus kills during 22 of her last 24 outings. Waden has produced four double-doubles on the season, her latest coming against No. 18 Kentucky (11/11) with 16 kills and 13 digs.
Lauren Myrick has powered home 2.57 kills per set to go along with 2.28 digs and 0.22 aces per set. Myrick has collected seven double-doubles on the season. Her latest double-double came at LSU (10/30) with 10 kills and 16 digs.Â
Shania Cromartie has registered 2.82 kills and 2.22 digs per set. Her 2.57 kills are ranked third on the squad behind Waden and Myrick. Cromartie has cranked out eight double-doubles, with her latest coming at LSU (10/29) with 12 kills and 10 digs.Â
Sania Petties has chipped in 1.69 kills and 0.65 blocks per set, while compiling a .295 attacking percentage. Deja Robinson has tucked away 0.95 blocks per set, while recording 1.57 kills per set. Robinson has also registered a .313 hitting percentage.
Gabby Coulter has distributed 9.04 assist per set on the season, which ranks eighth among SEC setters. She has garnered a team-leading fourteen double-doubles this year, her latest coming at Alabama (11/05) with 26 assists and 11 digs.
Lilly Gunter has sprawled out 10-plus digs in 21 of her 24 starts while wearing the libero jersey. Her 4.20 digs per set rank third among SEC liberos and first on the MSU squad.
