Volleyball Adds Two Transfers to 2022 Class

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball added a pair of transfers to the 2022 class this week with Lacey Jeffcoat and Emily Oerther enrolling this spring.

Jeffcoat, a libero from Birmingham, comes to Starkville with one year of eligibility after spending the last four years as a Troy Trojan. As for Oerther, she hails from Windermere, Florida, and joins the Bulldogs with two years of eligibility after playing three seasons as a setter at Penn State.

Head coach Julie Darty Dennis and the Bulldogs put together the most successful season in school history in 2021 with a 25-6 overall record and the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Dawgs have 13 members of the 2021 squad returning next season.

- Played in 108 matches and appeared in 405 sets in that span.
- Amassed 1,626 digs with an average of 4.01 digs per set while at Troy.
- Collected 302 assists (0.75 per set) and 95 service aces (0.23 per set) as a Trojan.
- Prepped at Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham.
- Led the Spartans to three consecutive 7A state championships.
- Named first team all-state, first team all-metro and the AL.com Birmingham All-Region Player of the Year in 2016.
- Earned high honorable mention All-America honors from PrepVolleyball.com and was a finalist for the website's Junior of the Year award.
- Lettered four years on the Spartan basketball team and was named all-area.

- Spent the last three seasons as setter at Penn State.
- Played in 18 matches and appeared in 29 sets over that span.
- Amassed 119 assists with an average of 4.10 digs per set for the Nittany Lions.
- Collected 25 digs (0.86 per set) and four service aces at Penn State.
- Prepped at The First Academy in Florida.
- Named honorable-mention all-state in Florida.
- Led the state in kills with 538 her senior season.
- Finished career with 991 kills, 88 aces, 525 digs and a .351 hitting percentage.
