Diamond Dawgs seek fifth straight trip to NCAA Super Regional on Monday versus Campbell
STARKVILLE - The No. 3 Mississippi State baseball program will enter its Monday (June 7) matchup with Campbell with a fifth straight trip to an NCAA Super Regional in sight. The Diamond Dawgs are on a nine-game NCAA Regional winning streak and have won a program-record seven straight NCAA postseason games at home. Below are 10 quick notes to look at before the Diamond Dawgs take on the Camelss in the regional final game at 11 a.m. on Dudy Noble Field.

Â
- The Diamond Dawgs will seek their fifth straight trip to the NCAA Super Regional, the longest active streak in the NCAA, on Monday against Campbell at 11 a.m.
 - The Diamond Dawg pitching staff reached the 700-strikeout mark for the second time in program history with 17 punchouts versus VCU. The 2019 staff fanned a school-record 718 batters and the 2021 edition sits No. 2 on the single-season list with 700.
 - Mississippi State piled up 16 runs against VCU on Saturday to tie for the seventh most runs in an NCAA postseason game. It is the 10th time in program history MSU scored 15-plus runs in an NCAA Tournament game and the first 1999 (18; vs. Nebraska).
 - Will Bednar struck out eight batters on Friday to move his total to 109 strikeouts on the season. In his first full season of college baseball, Bednar has tied Eric DuBose (109; 1995) for the most punchouts in a freshman season. Christian MacLeod followed with 13 punchouts against VCU to join Bednar in the century club and give Mississippi State its fifth season with a 100-strikeout tandem in program history and third straight full season with a 100-strikeout duo.
- Tanner Allen moved his hitting streak to 20 games with a three-hit game against VCU. It also extended his reached base streak to 23 games, which is the second-longest on the team this season (38; Rowdey Jordan) and of his career (26; 2019-20).
 - Rowdey Jordan has posted consecutive three-hit games for MSU to start the NCAA Starkville Regional. That gives him 23 hits in NCAA Regional play (10 games). He is now 23-for-45 in his NCAA Regional career (.511) with 15 runs scored, seven doubles, three home runs and 13 RBIs.
 - Kamren James blasted his 10th home run of the season on Saturday versus VCU to give Mississippi State three hitters with double-digit home runs. It is the first time since 1999 that MSU has seen three Diamond Dawgs hit 10-plus home runs in the same season.
 - Campbell enters after winning a pair of elimination games. The Camels dropped the Regional opener to VCU, before dispatching of Samford and the Rams to earn a spot in the regional final. In all, Campbell has scored 39 runs over three games and allowed 42 runs.
 - This will be the second straight NCAA Tournament that Campbell plays in the regional final. The Camels won each of its first two games at the 2019 Greenville Regional, before host East Carolina defeated CU twice Monday to earn the Super Regional bid.
 - The Camels like things in pairs, as the offense leads the nation in doubles and the defense is No. 4 nationally in doubles plays turned. Campbell is also the nation's most hit team at the plate, reaching base 126 times via hit-by-pitch in 2021.
