No. 15 Bulldog Tennis Set To Host Auburn Sunday For Senior Day

STARKVILLE – After back-to-back SEC road battles, the 15th-ranked Mississippi State men's tennis team returns home Sunday afternoon to battle Auburn. Match time between the Bulldogs (12-7, 2-6 SEC) and Tigers (6-13, 2-8 SEC) is slated for 1 p.m. at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, with State seniors Giovanni Oradini and Stedman Strickland to be honored prior to the contest. Admission is free to all MSU home matches.
2021 MSU Tennis COVID/Attendance Protocols
In conjunction with current COVID protocols established by the most recent Governor's Executive Order, fans may attend Sunday's match at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, with seating allowed in designated areas only. Continuing MSU and SEC COVID protocols, face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required as a condition of all guest during ingress, egress, and movement throughout the stadium, as well as any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.

MSU In The Oracle ITA Rankings…
The Bulldogs are currently ranked 15th nationally as a team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in this week's latest poll (March 30). In the ITA national singles rankings, State is led by veteran Florian Broska at No. 45 in the country. Up next with his highest ranking of his young Bulldog career, Davide Tortora comes in at No. 49. Following right behind is senior and two-time All-American Giovanni Oradini at No. 51 nationally in singles. Rounding at the rankings, true freshman Nemanja Malesevic leads the next generation of Bulldogs at No. 71 in the country. In doubles, the Bulldogs' top duo of Broska and Gregor Ramskogler check in as the nation's 52nd-ranked tandem.
Know The Foe: Auburn
Auburn will enter Sunday's match with a 6-13 overall mark, while holding a 2-8 league record. In their most recent outing, the Tigers dropped a tight 4-3 affair to No. 9 Ole Miss at home on the Plains Friday.
The Tigers are led at the top of their singles lineup by the nation's No. 36 player in Tyler Stice. In doubles, AU's tandem of Tad Maclean and Finn Murgett checks in at No. 32 in the country.
The Bulldogs currently hold a 30-21 all-time record against Auburn in the series (since 1969). The Maroon and White has claimed the last six consecutive matches versus the Tigers, as well as 11 of the last 12. In the most recent clash, State posted a 4-0 victory at Auburn on March 16, 2019.

In their most recent outing this past Friday, the Bulldogs dropped a 5-2 affair to at No. 35 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Registering points for the Bulldogs were Nemanja Malesevic and Alberto Colas with three-set singles victories at the No. 3 and 4 positions. Florian Broska and Gregor Ramskogler also notched a 7-5 upset of the Crimson Tide's 25th-ranked duo in doubles.
Next Up For MSU…
Following Sunday's affair with Auburn, the Bulldogs will make a quick turnaround, prepping to welcome Arkansas to Starkville this Wednesday, April 7, at 12 p.m. The contest was postponed earlier this season due to weather.
