No. 36 MSU Women’s Tennis Hosts No. 24 Florida Saturday

STARKVILLE – The 36th-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (10-7, 2-7 SEC) is set to welcome No. 24 Florida (8-6, 6-3 SEC) Saturday at 12 p.m. CT at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. In the case of inclement weather, the match may be moved indoors to the Rula Tennis Pavilion.
Current MSU Tennis COVID Attendance Protocols
A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre (Outdoor) - Under current COVID protocols, fans may attend MSU home matches at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, with seating allowed in designated areas only. Continuing MSU and SEC COVID protocols, face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required as a condition of all guest during ingress, egress, and movement throughout the stadium, as well as any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.
Rula Tennis Pavilion (Indoor) - Under current COVID protocols, if a match starts or is moved indoors to the Rula Tennis Pavilion due to weather, a very limited number of fans will be allowed to attend.

Bulldog Notes
State is ranked 36th nationally in this week's latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association national poll. Two Bulldogs are ranked nationally in singles – No. 19 Emma Antonaki and No. 61 Magda Adaloglou. Antonaki's ranking this week is the highest of her MSU career while Adaloglou's is her second-highest. In doubles, Adaloglou and Tamara Racine are No. 18 in the country this week, their second-highest ranking ever as a pair.
MSU owns a 27-16 record in doubles dual match play overall this season as well as an impressive 56-29 mark in singles, with Antonaki and Adaloglou pacing the team. Antonaki owns an 11-3 dual match singles mark, while Adaloglou is 10-1 and has claimed her last eight singles decisions. Adaloglou has claimed 18 of her last 20 singles outings, dating back to last season, while Antonaki has won all but three of her last 21 matches.
True freshman Chloé Cirotte has been stellar in her first semester in the Maroon and White, going 9-4 in dual match competition. Marta Falceto (5-1) also owns a winning record in dual match play this far this spring. Alexandra Mikhailuk has notched eight victories, Racine has tallied six, and Lilian Poling owns five in team action for State as well.
Know The Foe
Florida enters Saturday's match with an 8-6 record, 6-3 in the SEC. The Gators will come to Starkville on a three-match win streak after defeating then-No. 41 Missouri (4-0), then-No. 20 Arkansas (4-0) at home and, most recently, No. 21 Ole Miss (4-1) Thursday night in Oxford.
Florida is led in the national rankings by McCartney Kessler, who is 11th in the country in this week's latest poll. Kessler teams up with Marlee Zein to form the nation's second-ranked doubles tandem. Also representing the Gators in the ITA singles rankings are Zein (47th), Sara Dahlstrom (113th) and Layne Sleeth (120th).
Florida owns a 38-1 advantage over the Bulldogs in the all-time series, but Mississippi State's lone victory came in the last meeting between the two teams – a 4-3 decision in Gainesville on March 3, 2019.
Last Time Out
Despite claiming the opening doubles point, the Bulldogs ultimately dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 39 South Carolina in Starkville on Thursday. Highlighting the day was Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine, as the 18th-ranked MSU duo upended 15th-ranked Gamecocks Megan Davies and Mia Horvit 6-2 at the No. 1 position to clinch the opening point for State. Bulldogs Emma Antonaki and Marta Falceto also paired for a 6-2 victory.
Next Up For MSU
Following Saturday's match against Florida, the Bulldogs will prepare to host No. 21 rival Ole Miss next Friday, April 2, at 5 p.m. CT. The match will be the third in a five-match homestand for State to end the 2021 regular season. MSU will also host No. 23 Kentucky (April 8) and No. 16 Vanderbilt (April 10).
