Bulldog Notes
MSU enters the weekend having dropped only two points in its five matches thus far this season. State has notched three 7-0 shutouts (Southern Miss, Southeastern Louisiana and Samford) as well as two 6-1 wins (at Furman and Memphis).
The Bulldogs have dominated in doubles action this spring, having claimed all five doubles points. The squad owns a 12-2 record in doubles dual match play overall, highlighted by a perfect 5-0 record from the tandem of Emma Antonaki and Alexandra Mikhailuk. State's duo of Magda Adaloglou and Lilian Poling follows with a flawless 4-0 record.
In singles, State is 28-2 in dual matches in 2021. Tamara Racine is 3-1 at the top spot in State's lineup and has claimed her last two decisions. The 69th-ranked Antonaki owns a team-leading 12-match singles win streak, dating back to last season. Adaloglou has won 12 of her last 14 singles affairs, while Mikhailuk has claimed nine of her last 10 singles outings. The senior transfer Poling is 10-2 overall, and has won five straight. True freshman Chloe Cirotte is 4-0 thus far in dual match singles competition.
Antonaki and Mikhailuk are both undefeated in all matches they have played in 2021, each 14-0 (7-0 doubles, 7-0 singles).
The Maroon and White look to extend their 43-game win streak in non-conference home matches this weekend.
Know the Foe: UAB
UAB enters the contest with a 0-2 record after falling to Alabama and No. 6 Georgia Tech to open the season, both on the road. State leads the series with UAB 27-3, and has claimed the last 17 matches against the Blazers. MSU claimed the last meeting in a 6-1 win last spring in Starkville.
Know the Foe: North Alabama
North Alabama is 1-2 in 2021 with a win over Alabama State and setbacks to Murray State and Alabama, all three matches coming on the road. MSU looks to remain perfect against the Lions, owning a 4-0 ledger in the series all-time. The last meetings between the two programs came in 2019 when State swept a doubleheader from UNA in Starkville.
