State Women’s Tennis Set To Host No. 20 Tennessee Friday

STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State women's tennis team (8-2, 0-2 SEC) looks to climb back into the win column against No. 20 Tennessee (6-3, 0-1 SEC) on Friday. Match time between the Bulldogs and Volunteers is slated for 3 p.m. at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. In the case of inclement weather, the match may be moved indoors to MSU's Rula Tennis Pavilion.
2021 MSU Tennis COVID/Attendance Protocols
In conjunction with current COVID protocols that have been established, a limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend outdoor matches at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre, and no fans or player guests will be allowed at indoor matches at the Rula Tennis Pavilion.
Outdoor - Per current MS Governor Executive order, a limited number of spectators will be allowed to attend outdoor matches at 25% of available seating capacity in the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. In accordance with all current policies, when attendance is allowed at the Pitts Tennis Centre, properly spaced and marked grandstand seating will be available in groups of two and three seat pods in the main grandstand on a first come-first serve basis. Within this seating area, an allotment of seats for each match will be available for home and visiting team player guests. Any remaining seats will be made available at the gate to the public. In accordance with current guidelines, face coverings over the nose and mouth shall be required as a condition of guest entry and exit, as well as movement throughout the facility, and any time guests are unable to maintain the recommended physical distance from others who are not in their same household or when actively eating or drinking.
Indoor - If a match is played or moved indoors into the RulaTennis Pavilion due to weather, NO spectators will be permitted, per current SEC COVID protocols and MS Governor Executive order.

Bulldog Notes
The Bulldogs have dominated in doubles action this spring, having claimed the opening point in nine of their 10 matches this season. The team owns an impressive 22-4 record in doubles play this dual match season, highlighted by a near-perfect 11-1 ledger from the duo of Emma Antonaki and Alexandra Mikhailuk. MSU's pair of Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine is ranked 41st nationally and claimed a ranked victory over No. 54 Mackenzie Clark and Mary Caroline Meredith of Tulane on Feb. 14 in their first time competing together this season.
In singles, State is 48-9 in dual matches in 2021, and is paced by the 69th-ranked Antonaki who owns a 9-1 mark. The Athens, Greece, product has claimed 16 of her last 17 singles matches, dating back to last season, and owns a 22-2 record overall in 2021 (11-1 singles, 11-1 doubles). Adaloglou has won 16 of her last 18 singles affairs and owns a team-leading six-match win streak, while Mikhailuk has come out victorious in 12 of her last 15 singles matches. Tamara Racine (5-3), Lilian Poling (5-1), Chloe Cirotte (7-1) and Marta Falceto (4-0) have also been impressive thus far in dual match competition for State.
Know The Foe: Tennessee
Tennessee enters Friday's match with a 6-3 record, 0-1 in the SEC, after falling at then-No. 5 Georgia 4-0 in Athens to begin its SEC slate this past Sunday. The Volunteers are currently ranked No. 20 in the nation and boast three players in the national singles rankings with 52nd-ranked Rebeka Mertena leading the squad. Mertena owns a 6-3 ledger in dual match play at positions 2 and 3. No. 85 Johanna Silva and No. 118 Carly Briggs join Mertena in the rankings.
Tennessee leads the all-time series with MSU by a 36-10 margin, but the Bulldogs have won six of the last eight matches with the Volunteers, including four-straight in Starkville. State claimed the last meeting between the two programs last season in a thrilling 4-3 decision at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.

This past Monday, Mississippi State traveled to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where they fell to the Razorbacks in just the Bulldogs' second setback of the season.
