Walk, Coulter Earn SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State's Rebecca Walk and Gabby Coulter collected a pair of SEC weekly honors following the Bulldogs' sweep over Missouri this past weekend.

Walk earned the SEC's Player and Co-Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Coulter picked up this week's SEC Setter of the Week honor. Walk is just the fourth Bulldog in program history to be named the SEC's Player of the Week.

For Coulter, it marks the first weekly honor of her career and the first time in program history the Bulldogs have claimed an SEC Setter of the Week accolade from the conference office.

"I am so proud for both Becca and Gabby to get some recognition from the SEC this week," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "We are just excited to come home with two more wins under our belt and proud that there were some great individual performances to get two gritty team wins on the road."

Mississippi State extended the SEC's longest winning streak to eight matches with the help of Walk, who posted a .523 hitting percentage and collected 1.08 blocks per set as a three-rotation middle blocker. Walk powered home a MSU career-high 14 kills on 18 errorless swings at Missouri as State became the first SEC team to reach 20 wins on the season. The .778 attack clip is the second-best hitting percentage for a SEC player with at least 12 kills this season. Walk popped eight kills, equaled a MSU career-best six blocks and had a career-high three aces at Missouri.

Coulter played a major role in conducting Mississippi State's 6-2 offense to 14.33 kills per set and a .303 hitting percentage during a 3-0 week for the Bulldogs. She produced 27 assists, eight digs and a career-high tying three aces at Missouri to enable State to extend the SEC's longest winning streak to eight matches. For the week, Coulter and Margaret Dean teamed for 10.91 assists per set. The Bulldogs have powered home over a .300 attack clip during 15 of 24 sets to fuel the team's eight-match winning streak.

Following the weekend sweep over Mizzou, Mississippi State is receiving votes in this week's AVCA Top 25 Coaches Poll entering a two-match home stretch against Tennessee this weekend.

Mississippi State returns home this weekend as the Bulldogs welcome No. 24 Tennessee to the Newell-Grissom Building on Nov. 13-14. First serve on both Saturday and Sunday is locked in for 1 p.m. CT.
