Stamatis Promoted to Director of Volleyball Operations

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball head coach Julie Darty Dennis announced Monday (Jan. 18) that former MSU volleyball student-athlete and current technical director Alleah Stamatis has been promoted to director of volleyball operations.

Stamatis, who played under Darty Dennis at Jacksonville (2016-17) and Mississippi State (2018-19), served as State's technical coordinator during the fall portion of the 2020-21 season. In her new role, Stamatis will manage team travel and match operations and assist in stat keeping during matches and practices.

"I'm very excited to bring Alleah on in a full-time capacity as our director of operations," Darty Dennis said. "I have always known that Alleah is going to get into an athletic department and the coaching profession and make a profound impact on a program. She has made a huge impact on every program that we've been part of together, and I think she is just starting to scratch the surface here."

In November, Stamatis was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Diversity Award, which allowed her to "participate in a series of educational, developmental, and relationship building experiences in conjunction with the 2020 AVCA Virtual Convention." Her award was sponsored by SEC assistant coaches.

"That was already an early sign that she's going to be a great member of a coaching staff," Darty Dennis said. "In this role, she is going to be a tremendous resource for us. I'm really excited to see the work that she does and I am, personally, really excited to work with her."

A setter during her playing career, Stamatis became the seventh Bulldog to record 1,000 assists in a single season during her fantastic senior campaign in 2019. As a sophomore at Jacksonville, Stamatis was a second-team All-Atlantic Sun performer.
