Mississippi State Men’s Tennis To Open 2021 Slate With Doubleheader

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State men's tennis team – winner of back-to-back SEC Tournament Championships in 2018 and 2019 – will open its 2021 campaign this weekend, as the Bulldogs are set to host a pair of matches on campus Friday, January 15. The Bulldogs will open play Saturday morning at 9 a.m. CT against Bellarmine, followed by a bout with North Alabama at 3 p.m. CT. All three of the teams will be opening their 2021 seasons Friday.

On the court, State is led by senior All-American Giovanni Oradini, who is currently ranked 36th nationally in singles. Following right behind is junior Florian Broska who is ranked 87th nationally in singles. In doubles, the Bulldogs have two duos currently ranked with Broska and freshman Nicolas Ocana earning the nation's No. 28 spot this week. Rounding out the rankings is the duo of Alberto Colas and Gregor Ramskogler, coming in at 47th nationally. Joining those four as returnees are Stedman Strickland and Davide Tortora.
A host of new faces will also take the court for State in 2021, including freshmen Carles Hernandez and Nemanja Malesevic, and redshirt freshman Seth Richey.
Under head coach Matt Roberts, MSU is 115-39 overall in his seven seasons at the helm of the Bulldogs, 63-10 at home. In the last three years, Roberts has guided the Bulldogs to a 56-13 overall mark, including back-to-back SEC Tournament crowns for the first time in school history.
Following this weekend's action, MSU welcomes ULL on Friday, January 22, before entertaining Middle Tennessee on Sunday, January 24.
