Volleyball Earns AVCA Team Academic Award

STARKVILLE – For the first time in 10 years, Mississippi State volleyball was named a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award on Monday (July 20).
The Bulldogs last earned the award in 2010. This is the fifth such honor for the program since the award's conception in the collegiate ranks in 2005.
"Our focus is always in the classroom first and foremost, so it's great to see that our hard work has paid off," head coach Julie Darty Dennis said. "I am really proud of our student-athletes, and we will continue to work on raising the bar for this program academically."
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale. State posted a 3.32 mark as a group and earned 10 combined recognitions between the 2019 Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll and 2019-20 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.
