Mississippi State Volleyball Picks Up Transfer Signee Margaret Dean

STARKVILLE – An eighth member joined Mississippi State volleyball's 2020 signing class Wednesday as Margaret Dean, a graduate transfer from Stephen F. Austin, signed to play at MSU.
A 5-foot-8 setter from Bedford, Texas, Dean will have one year of eligibility remaining in 2020. She is the third transfer student-athlete to join head coach Julie Darty's 2020 class, following graduate transfer Jessica Kemp and junior Alden Willis.
"I am excited for Margaret to join the Bulldog family," Darty said. "She is the perfect addition to this class and to this program."
Dean comes to Starkville after helping SFA to back-to-back Southland Conference championships as the Ladyjacks finished a perfect 16-0 for the second-straight season. SFA went 31-2 in 2019 and clinched its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance. As a junior, Dean tallied 550 assists (4.91 per set) in a two-setter system, 277 digs (2.47 per set) and led her team with 35 service aces. Dean also collected 13 double-doubles.
"Margaret brings NCAA tournament experience and comes from a program where winning is an expectation and habit. She is going to bring a maturity to our locker room that we need and an easy composure on the court. In my conversations with Margaret, I could tell she is a tough competitor and a great teammate, but most importantly she loves the game of volleyball."
