Evans, Stamatis Earn AVCA Diversity Award

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State volleyball staffers Phil Evans and Alleah Stamatis were named recipients of the 2020 American Volleyball Coaches Association Diversity Award as announced by the organization on Tuesday (Nov. 3).

SEC head coaches and assistant coaches each sponsored one of the awards, and Stamatis was the recipient of the award sponsored by the league's assistants.

Per the AVCA, the 40 total recipients will have the opportunity to "participate in a series of educational, developmental, and relationship building experiences in conjunction with the 2020 AVCA Virtual Convention."

Both Evans and Stamatis were added to the Bulldog volleyball staff prior to the 2020 season after graduating from MSU earlier in the year. Evans serves as the program's volunteer assistant coach, while Stamatis, a former Bulldog setter from 2018-19, works as the team's technical coordinator.
