Bulldogs Improve on Day Two of the Blessings Collegiate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ford Clegg stood out again on Day 2 of the Blessing Collegiate Invitational as he tightened his hold on second place, shooting six-under for the day. As a team, Mississippi State's men's team climbed two spots to ninth place.
In round two, the Bulldogs carded a 285 to tie with Auburn for the second-best round of the day. Clegg fired six birdies and finished the round with a 68 to pass South Carolina's Caleb Proveaux.
"Today was a very good day for us as a team," head coach Dusty Smith said. "We were very focused and our attention to detail the entire round was where it needed to be. I'm really proud of all five guys today. Austin and Cameron had some huge bounce back rounds and Ford continued doing what he has been doing all week. Garrett and Benjamin did a good job just hanging around today which was big for our team."
Junior Austin Fulton finished the round with five birdies to shoot 69 and move into tie for 32nd, climbing 33 places in one round. Sophomore Ben Nelson also collected two on Tuesday.
Junior Cameron Clarke and senior Garrett Johnson both ended the day tied at 54th, and both claimed two birdies to finish the day. Clarke shot with a 72, while Johnson finished with a 76.
"We need to make sure we carry this momentum from today's round into tomorrow's final round," Smith said. "Our focus needs to be on playing Bulldog golf and to make sure we have that sharp focus again through the entire round."
The Bulldogs will return to the Blessings Golf Club on Wednesday to complete the final round.
