The Bulldogs Set for Second Event at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State's men's golf team will travel to Franklin, Tennessee, for what will be the second event of its three-tournament fall season. State will tee off at the Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate on Sunday, Oct. 25.

The tournament will take place at the 7,190-yard North Course at the Vanderbilt Legends Club and span three days with the final round on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The field is made up of all 14 schools in the Southeastern Conference.

Head Coach Dusty Smith and the Bulldogs return to Nashville after playing at the Mason Rudolph Championship in the 2018-19 season where Ford Clegg tied for 13th. On his first trip to the Legends Club, Clegg shot a 67 and 69 in the final two rounds to help secure a top-15 finish.

Smith looks forward to seeing how Clegg and company will compete in their return to Franklin.

"We look forward to another opportunity to compete this week," Smith said. "We have had a good couple of weeks of preparation and I like how our team has handled getting ready for this next step. Our emphasis has been on focusing and executing our shots with great intensity."

Earlier this month, the Bulldogs placed ninth to start their season at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas. Clegg stood out as he collected a three-day, 1-under total of 215 and tied for eighth with 11 birdies. Senior Garrett Johnson, juniors Cameron Clarke and Austin Fulton and sophomore Benjamin Nelson rounded out State's lineup.

The lineup for this week's event includes the aforementioned Clegg, Johnson, Clarke, Nelson and newcomer Loïc Ettlin.

"We have strong belief in this team," Smith said, "and we are thankful for another chance to prove what kind of team we can be."
