Becroft, Ramskogler Each Go 1-1 On Day Two in Tuscaloosa

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State's men's tennis team showed energy and composure in singles Saturday during the second day of action at the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall tournament.
Freshman Isaac Becroft got things rolling early on for the Maroon and White. In singles consolation action of the Houndstooth draw, Becroft notched his first career singles win by downing Southeastern Conference foe Mason Meier of Tennessee 6-3, 6-2. In his second match of the day, Becroft dropped a hard-fought 6-3, 6-4 decision to South Alabama's Martin Bugaj. Becroft will take the singles court again Sunday morning at 10 a.m. CT, taking on Georgia's Alex Phillips in a final consolation matchup.
Sophomore Gregor Ramskogler also earned a solid victory, cruising past Max Stewart of Oklahoma 6-2, 6-1 in his consolation opener in the Crimson draw. Ramskogler then ended his day by dropping a three-set affair to Tennessee's Martim Prata 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-3. Ramskogler will play again Sunday morning at 10 a.m. CT as well, meeting UAB's Roman Postolka.
State junior Stedman Strickland will join Becroft and Ramskogler in singles consolation action Sunday, filling in as an alternate for an injured player in the Crimson draw. He will meet Jochen Bertsch of Oklahoma.
In doubles at 9 a.m. Sunday morning, the MSU duo of Becroft and Ramskogler will look to take home third place in the Crimson draw. The tandem will take on USA's Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol.
