Ramskogler, Becroft To Usher In 2019-20 MSU Men’s Tennis Campaign In Tuscaloosa

STARKVILLE - Summer tournaments, training, and workouts have come to an end once again, and the time for match play is back for the Mississippi State men's tennis team.
The fall season commences Friday with a pair of Bulldogs taking the court to open the fall campaign in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, at the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall tournament. Sophomore Gregor Ramskogler and true freshman Issac Becroft will represent the Maroon and White in the three-day event.
The tournament, which runs from Sept. 13-15 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium, will feature student-athletes from programs across multiple conferences including the SEC's Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Other teams with players appearing this weekend include Oklahoma, South Alabama, Tulane and UAB. The tournament features a compass draw format, guaranteeing every player three singles and three doubles matches during the course of the event.
Two rounds of doubles will be played on Friday's opening day of action, followed by one round of singles.
Becroft and Ramskogler will be pairing up for doubles in the Crimson draw. The duo will take court at 9 a.m. CT Friday against the Georgia duo of Erik Grevelius and Mateo Reyes. A second round of doubles will follow at 10 a.m.
Ramskogler, State's lone sophomore in 2019-20, will be also playing in the Crimson singles draw and will take the court Friday afternoon not before 12:30 p.m. CT against South Alabama's Loic Cloes. The Reichraming, Austria, product finished his rookie season with a 9-6 record in singles as well as being a notable 23-12 in doubles play. He went 4-0 at the No. 6 singles position, while serving as a mainstay in the Bulldog doubles lineup alongside Trevor Foshey, as the duo went 15-7 at No. 3 while helping guide State to a second-straight SEC Tournament crown.
The newcomer Becroft, hailing from Wellington, New Zealand, will make his collegiate debut this weekend. He will make his initial appearance as a Bulldog in the Houndstooth singles draw and will take the court Friday afternoon not before 12:30 p.m., meeting Georgia's Britton Johnston.

After returning from this weekend's tournament, the Bulldogs will prepare for action in two different events next weekend (Sept. 20-22). Some Bulldogs will compete in the in Duke Bonk Invitational in Durham, North Carolina, while others will travel to the 44th Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
