Jones Runs Fastest SEC Steeplechase at Bryan Clay Invitational

AZUSA, Calif. – In his second career appearance in the event, Stephen Jones ran the fastest 3000m steeplechase in the SEC on Thursday night at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Jones clocked a personal-best 8:53.23 to place third and move into third all-time in MSU history.
The evening's distance carnival also saw Sylvia Russell and Caden Foos run in the steeplechase, and Shannon Fair and Mia Meydrich competed in the 5000m.
Asia Poe finished her first career heptathlon with 4,935 points to place 14th. Her score ranks fifth in the SEC and is second among league freshmen entering the weekend. Poe came one centimeter shy of winning the long jump with an outdoor personal-best 6.15m (20-2.25) after winning the high jump the day before.
Zaria Tillman took 12th in the heptathlon with 4,985 points.
