
Bulldog Track and Field Crosses State Line for Crimson Tide Invitational

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After a week off from competition, Mississippi State's track and field programs return to action on Thursday and Friday at the Crimson Tide Invitational, hosted by Alabama.
The Crimson Tide men are ranked fifth and the women are eighth in the latest USTFCCCA TFRI Rankings. Florida State also brings ranked teams into competition, with the Seminole men checking in at No. 8 and the women at No. 7.
The action begins on Thursday evening with the women's hammer throw starting at 6:30 p.m. CT. State's athletes then take a break before the night's distance events. The seeded portions of the women's and men's 1500m will be run at 9 p.m. and 9:10 p.m., respectively. The women's 5000m starts at 9:20 p.m., with the men's event to follow to conclude the night.
Friday field events begin at 9 a.m. with the women's discus. The men's event will follow at 11 a.m. along with the women's and men's long jumps. Alicia Viveros will look to move up the Bulldogs' leaderboard in the shot put at noon along with Francesca Chambers, Madelyn Lee and Chardae Tryon.
School record holders will be back in action in the afternoon's field events. Logan Boss competes in the women's high jump at 12:50 p.m., and Sarah Blake will throw the javelin at 1 p.m. Tiffany Flynn, fresh off breaking her own school record in the triple jump, returns to the runway at 2:20 p.m.
The first gun on the track fires at noon, but MSU will not take to the blocks until 12:20 p.m. for the unseeded sections of the 1500m. At 2:25 p.m., two-time NCAA 800m runner-up Marco Arop will run his first outdoor race of the season along with fellow 2018 national qualifier Dejon Devroe.
State's national-qualifying trio of 400m hurdlers in Charles Brockman III, Rasheed Tatham and Malcum Tatum will run the event at 2:50 p.m.
The meet winds down with Tyriq Horsford and Curtis Thompson in the men's javelin at 3 p.m. followed by the men's and women's 200m. The men's and women's 4x400m relays will close the day at 4:10 p.m.
