AUSTIN, Texas/SAN MARCOS, Texas/RALEIGH, N.C. – One throw.
That was all it took for Mississippi State's Anderson Peters to break the school record in the javelin on Friday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, tossing the implement 84.73m (278-0.0) on his first attempt. The Grenadian national record holder then bettered that mark on his third attempt, firing the javelin 86.07m (282-4.0) to set a lifetime best.
Peters' mark now ranks No. 1 in the world in 2019, No. 3 in NCAA history and No. 2 in SEC history. It is also the farthest throw by a collegian 2017.
State's men's 4x100m relay squad of Okheme Moore, Terryon Conwell, Karson Kowalchuk and Lester Miller posted a time of 40.08 to finish sixth overall and advance to the finals in the event, slated for a 1:33 p.m. start time on Saturday. Kowalchuk also ran a season-best 10.35 in the 100m prelims on Friday.
Both Tiffany Flynn and Zaria Tillman clocked season-best marks in the women's 100m hurdles prelims, running 13.56 and 13.91, respectively.
In the women's triple jump, both Flynn and Alexis Farley finished as the top three collegians in their sections. Flynn leaped a personal-best 13.48m (44-2.75) in a third-place finish in the "A" section, which bettered her school-record mark by 0.01m. Farley jumped 12.78m (41-11.25) to place third in the "B" section.
Reggie Miller cleared 2.09m (6-10.25) in the men's high jump, while Sarah Blake threw the javelin 42.96m (140-11.0).
Charles Brockman III and Rasheed Tatham placed sixth and eighth, respectively, in the men's 400m hurdles finals. Brockman III ran 52.00, while Tatham posted a time of 53.52.
Asia Poe cleared 1.60m (5-3.0) in the women's high jump to match the mark she achieved a week ago at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
In the men's 1500m, Lake Spradling ran a personal-best 3:55.63, while Caden Foos led the way with a time of 3:50.27. Mia Meydrich ran 4:31.64 in the women's 1500m to finish 41st.
Sylvia Russell placed 18th in the women's 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:40.75, while Shannon Fair closed out the day's events in the 10,000m invitational, running 35:20.72.
The Bulldogs will be back in action in all three meets on Saturday, with Tillman competing in the women's javelin at the Bobcat Invitational at 9 a.m. MSU gets started in Austin at 11 a.m., with school record-holder Logan Boss competing in the high jump. In Raleigh, JT Mackay and Chandler Underwood are set to run in the men's 10,000m, with first gun set for 8:30 a.m.

Bobcat Invitational – San Marcos, Texas
After running a personal-best 1:01.47 in the women's 400m hurdles prelims on Thursday at Texas, Riley White continued to improve her mark, running 1:00.89 to win the 400m hurdles at the Bobcat Invitational. In the victory, White claimed her heat by over two seconds.Asia Poe cleared 1.60m (5-3.0) in the women's high jump to match the mark she achieved a week ago at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays.
adidas Raleigh Relays – Raleigh, North Carolina
Stephen Jones moved into the top 5 in the men's 5000m on Friday, running a personal-best 14:08.73 to place 14th. His mark currently ranks fourth in MSU outdoor history. Luke Zacharias shaved nearly five seconds off his previous personal best in the men's 5000m, running 15:02.49.In the men's 1500m, Lake Spradling ran a personal-best 3:55.63, while Caden Foos led the way with a time of 3:50.27. Mia Meydrich ran 4:31.64 in the women's 1500m to finish 41st.
