STARKVILLE – Fresh off a 7-0 sweep of No. 27 Vanderbilt on Friday, the No. 8 Mississippi State men's tennis team duplicated that result on Saturday, dominating Kentucky by the same score to close out the first weekend of SEC play.
The Bulldogs (10-2, 2-0 SEC) did so without surrendering a set in the match to the Wildcats (7-7, 1-1) to extend their home winning streak to 21 matches, with 11 of those victories coming against SEC foes. MSU also captured its sixth straight triumph over UK.
"It was a great weekend to start SEC play," head coach Matt Roberts said. "We had a great week of practice and this weekend was a result of our hard work. The guys are getting better and they're very focused on what they need to do to keep developing, and I thought today was a great match to put those things into play. We had a lot of support from our fans this weekend and the guys love playing in front of them. We're showing them a lot of fight and we're excited for more home matches the rest of this season."
MSU's tandem of Trevor Foshey and Gregor Ramskogler gave the Bulldogs a quick advantage in doubles, taking a 6-2 decision against Kentucky's Theo McDonald and Fabian Penzkofer on court 3.
A pair of tight battles were being played out on courts 1 and 2 to decide the doubles point, with MSU a game away from the match on both. State's 11th-ranked duo of Nuno Borges and Strahinja Rakic won the race to the finish, taking a 6-4 triumph over Kentucky's Cesar Bourgois and Enzo Wallart on court 1. With the win, Borges and Rakic moved into a tie for first in program history in career doubles pairing wins (47), matching George Coupland and Artem Ilyushin (2010-12).

The Bulldogs rolled in singles as well, not dropping a set en route to their second straight shutout.
MSU's Rakic was first off the singles courts on Saturday, taking a 6-3, 6-2 win against Cesar Bourgois on court 3. On the adjacent court 1, State's third-ranked Borges continued his winning ways, trouncing UK's 29th-ranked Ryo Matsumura 6-3, 6-1.
