Mississippi State faces UAB for first time since 2012 campaign
STARKVILLE – After opening the 2019 season with a three-game sweep of Youngstown State, the Mississippi State baseball program will turn its attention to a midweek matchup with UAB on Wednesday (Feb. 20) at Dudy Noble Field.

Senior Peyton Plumlee will make his second appearance of the season for the Diamond Dawgs, as he appeared in relief during the season-opening win over Youngstown State. Plumlee tossed two innings and allowed one run on one hit, with two strikeouts versus the Penguins.

Back again for the 2019 season is the $2 midweek promotion, with $2 general admission tickets to each midweek contest.
For all regular season home games at Dudy Noble, MSU students will be admitted into the games for free with their student ID and Bully's Kids Club members will also receive free admission.

Dudy Noble Field Policies
Gates open two hours before first pitch on game day and the stadium gates will close one hour after the conclusion of each game. The right field terrace is a public, grill-free, first come first served area. Should fans wish to purchase ice at Dudy Noble, they will be able to do so behind the center field wall in the Left Field Lounge.

Approved coolers cannot exceed the maximum size of 10" by 10" by 10" after gates open, with coolers exceeding the restriction size prohibited. Other prohibited items include alcoholic beverages, smoking (in all areas), weapons, fireworks, electric power generators, pets, non-approved banners and signs, bicycles, any illegal substances, carts, wagons, wheeled supply carriers, personal tailgate tents (on concourse or lawn areas) and lawn chairs on sidewalks or concourse areas.

All bags are subject to search and security screening, along with items prohibited from being stored along stadium fencing and gates. MSU encourages fans to leave all unnecessary and prohibited items at home or in their vehicles to expedite security and screening procedures.

Tickets for Tuesday's contest, along with all of MSU's home games, can be purchased through HailState.com/tickets.

- Mississippi State will meet UAB for the 44 time in program history on Wednesday night, with State owning a 33-10 edge in the all-time series.
- The last meeting was at the 2012 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where MSU handed UAB an 8-1 defeat.
- The first meeting in the series came via a pair of games during the 1982 season, as the Blazers took both games by scores of 10-2 and 17-16 in Birmingham, Alabama.
- The coaching connections between the two programs are strong, as current UAB head coach Brian Shoop was an assistant coach at Mississippi State from 1983-89.
- Blazer volunteer assistant coach Ron Polk is no stranger to Starkville, as he served two terms as head coach for the Bulldogs.
- Polk won 888 games from 1976-97 and piled up 251 victories from 2002-08. Overall, Polk owned a 1,139-590-2 record as the MSU skipper.
