STARKVILLE - One of the nation's top collegiate tennis tournaments will feature the lone senior from the Mississippi State Men's Tennis team, as the 2019 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships beginning main draw play on Wednesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Giovanni Oradini will be in action for MSU. Ranked 24th nationally, Oradini will take court for his opening round match Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. CT, meeting 86th-ranked Luc Fomba of TCU. Fomba reached the main draw with three qualifying round victories over the past two days in Tulsa.
The two-time ITA Singles All-American Oradini is 3-1 this fall, after advancing to the quarterfinals of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic last month. Oradini is an impressive 71-34 in singles during his Bulldog career, including reaching the NCAA Round of 16 in 2018 and the quarterfinals this past May.
The tournament is in its 14th straight season being hosted by the University of Tulsa, with matches being played at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Past Bulldogs to have won titles at the All-American include Daniel Courcol (1992), Thomas Dupre (1996), and Courcol and Laurent Miquelard in doubles (1992). Five-time MSU All-American Nuno Borges reached the singles finals in Tulsa last fall.
While Oradini is competing in Tulsa, the remaining six Bulldogs will prepare for match play this weekend (October 12-14) in Atlanta, Georgia, at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
