STARKVILLE – Fall tournaments continue for the Mississippi State men's tennis team as the Bulldogs head to Auburn, Alabama, for the 2019 ITA Southern Regional Championships, a qualifying event for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in November. All matches will be played at Auburn's Yarbrough Tennis Center.

All Bulldogs will be participating in this year's event except senior Giovanni Oradini, who has already qualified for the National Fall Championships after his impressive run to the quarterfinals at the ITA All-American Championships last week in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Last season's ITA Southern Regionals, held in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, saw an all-Bulldog singles final between seniors Niclas Braun and Trevor Foshey, with Braun coming out on top in a thrilling three-set affair to hand MSU the singles crown for the third consecutive year. The Bulldogs also claimed the doubles title with Braun pairing up with Oradini to oust South Alabama's Loic Cloes and Clemen Marzol for the title.

The remaining six Bulldogs – Isaac Becroft, Florian Broska, Nicolas Ocana, Gregor Ramskogler, Stedman Strickland and Davide Tortora - will face off against players from Auburn, Alabama, Alabama State, Jacksonville State, Louisiana-Lafayette, LSU, Ole Miss, New Orleans, Samford, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, and UAB.

In singles, the freshman Tortora has earned one of 24 direct entries into the main draw (and is also the No. 7 seed), which begins on Saturday, while the remaining five Bulldogs will start qualifying competition tomorrow.

In doubles, all teams are in the main draw, which also begins Friday. State's pair of Broska and Strickland is the No. 4 seed overall, Ramskogler and Tortora are No. 6 , while Becroft and Ocana round out MSU's tandems that will compete this weekend.

Play will begin Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 9 a.m. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday start times will be set later.
