
Battle of the Bulldogs Set for Thursday in Starkville

STARKVILLE – Two teams of Bulldogs will meet in Starkville on Thursday night as the No. 7/6 Mississippi State women's basketball squad hosts Georgia in Humphrey Coliseum. The evening tip on SEC Network is set for 8 p.m. CT with Pam Ward, Carolyn Peck and Steffi Sorensen calling all the action.
Tickets are available online in advance at HailState.com/tickets for $5. Tickets for fans 17 and younger are $3. Online sales will conclude at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Ticket sales will continue at the door while supply lasts, but prices will increase to $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Fans can listen to the action on the MSU Radio Network and online via HailState.com/Plus and the TuneIn app.
The first 1,000 fans will receive a voucher for a Vic Schaefer bobblehead that can be redeemed following the conclusion of the game.
This week's SEC Co-Players of the Week will meet on the court when MSU's Jordan Danberry and Georgia's Gabby Connally take the floor. Danberry leads the league in scoring in conference play, averaging 21.5 ppg through two contests, and Connally leads the Georgia offense with 13.3 ppg.
State boasts the nation's second-best scoring offense, averaging 92.6 ppg, and the top scoring margin in the country (+37.7). MSU also tops the conference in field goal percentage (51.0 percent), rebounding (46.73 rpg), assists (18.9 apg) and assist/turnover ratio (1.4).
MSU will put its 28-game home winning streak to the test. Combined with the men's program State teams are 53-2 in Humphrey Coliseum since the start of the 2017-18 season.

- Georgia is one of four SEC teams to have started 2-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs are 11-4 after claiming a 71-64 road win at Vanderbilt on Sunday.
- Sophomore Gabby Connally shared SEC Player of the Week honors with MSU's Jordan Danberry this week after putting up 29 points at Vanderbilt.
- Georgia is third in the country in blocks with 97 total, 6.5 bpg. That has helped the Bulldogs hold opponents to 34.1 shooting percentage, which leads the SEC and is 14th in the nation.
DOUBLE-DOUBLES ABOUND
- McCowan and Howard are not only two of the nation's returning rebounds leaders, but they're also among the country's best at collecting double-doubles.
- McCowan collected her 12th double-double of the season and 51st for her career in Sunday's win against Kentucky. That toal is 4th-most among active Division I players and an MSU record.
- Howard collected her 3rd as a Bulldog against the Wildcats, leading all scorers with 21 points and 12 rebounds. It was the 36th double-double of her career, 11th among active DI players.
- Their 87 combined double-doubles are the most among teams in the nation.
DAZZLING DANBERRY
- Jordan Danberry is averaging 13.3 points per game this season after scoring just 2.8 ppg last season. She scored in double figures in 3 games last year, but has done so in 12 of 15 contests this season.
- Danberry has scored 10-plus points in each the last 10 games, including two 20-point efforts in that span.
- In conference play, the reigning SEC Co-Player of the Week is averaging 21.5 ppg, which leads the league.
- Danberry has already broken her career high in scoring four times this season. With her next point, she will have surpassed the highest-scoring season of her career (201 points as a freshman).
