Bulldogs Travel to Baton Rouge on Thursday

STARKVILLE – The SEC's top offense will meet the top defense when Mississippi State's No. 7/6 women's basketball team plays at LSU on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on SEC Network+ with Lyn Rollins and Victor Howell on the call.

The Bulldogs continue to lead the nation in scoring offense (90.4 ppg) and scoring margin (+34.8), but LSU's defense has averaged an SEC-low 54.8 points per game, which ranks 12th in the country. State leads the conference in field goal percentage (50.3 percent), assist/turnover ratio (1.4), assists (18.2 apg), rebounding margin (+16.6) and offensive rebounding (19 rpg).
Jordan Danberry has scored in double figures in 15 straight games, averaging 14.3 points in that span. In those 15 games alone she has scored more points (215) than in any prior full season of her career. In the same span, Jazzmun Holmes has posted 77 assists with just 19 turnovers. She has five double-digit scoring games in that span. The two Bulldog guards combined for 13 assists on Sunday against Ole Miss.
MSU will open the February portion of the schedule on Sunday, Feb. 3 at Alabama. Tipoff against the Crimson Tide is set for noon on SEC Network.

- The Bulldogs have won 23 straight SEC games, dating back to last season. MSU's last loss in regular-season conference play came on Feb. 26, 2017 to Tennessee.
- Jazzmun Holmes leads the nation with a 4.3 assist/turnover ratio. Jordan Danberry is 6th in the SEC (1.8). They have helped MSU to DI's 11th-best ratio (1.4).
- Jordan Danberry is averaging 13.3 points per game this season after scoring just 2.8 ppg last season. She scored in double figures in 3 games last year, but has done so in 18 of 20 contests this season.
- The Bulldogs boast two players that hold career rebounding records in the SEC. Teaira McCowan passed LaToya Thomas (2000-03) for sole possession of the MSU career rebounds record with 1,109. She has now collected 1,284 for her career. Anriel Howard set Texas A&M's with 1,002 in her three years as an Aggie.
- MSU rose one spot to No. 6 in this week's Associated Press Top 25 Poll, extending its 51-week streak in the Top 10. That is the fourth-longest streak in the nation.
- Seniors Jazzmun Holmes and Teaira McCowan picked up career victory No. 118 on Sunday against Ole Miss. That total is the 4th-most nationally since 2015-16 and 8 wins away from matching last year's class (126) for the program's career wins record.
- Jazzmun Holmes is a big reason MSU is one of the nation's best in assists and assist/turnover ratio. Over her last 13 games, she is averaging 5.3 apg compared with just 1.4 turnovers.
- Freshman Myah Taylor has not missed a field goal attempt since Jan. 14 at Auburn. From the free throw line, she has not missed since Jan. 3 at Arkansas.
- State has also been one of the nation's best at distributing the basketball, dishing 18.2 assists per game, an average that leads the SEC and is 12th in the nation.
- McCowan collected her 16th double-double of the season and 55th for her career in Sunday's win against Ole Miss. That total is 4th-most among active Division I players and an MSU record.
LAST TIME OUT FOR MSU...
- The Bulldogs won their 10th straight game over in-state rival Ole Miss, 80-49. The 31-point victory matched last year's game in Starkville (Jan. 11, 2018) for MSU's largest margin of victory in the series.
- Teaira McCowan scored a season-high 33 points to go along with 13 rebounds, leading all players in both categories for her 55th career double-double.
- Anriel Howard also recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.
- MSU outscored the Rebels 42-14 in the paint and outrebounded them, 43-27.
