STARKVILLE – A high-caliber field awaits Mississippi State's track and field teams in Fayetteville, Arkansas, as the Bulldogs are set to compete in the nationally-televised Razorback Invitational.
Held at Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center, the Razorback Invitational is one of only two nationally-televised regular-season collegiate track meets in the country and will feature team scoring in the traditional 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 system. A portion of Friday's action will be streamed live on SEC Network+ starting at 6 p.m. CT, while a portion of Saturday's events can be found on SEC Network from 1-4:30 p.m.
"We're extremely excited about this weekend," interim head coach Chris Woods said. "This is one of the best meets in the country, and it features some of the best teams in the nation, with several teams that are consistently in the conversation for national championships. With it being a scored meet, this is a good opportunity for us to be able to identify who could potentially score for us at the SEC Championships and nationals. It will be a great test for our athletes on a national stage, but I know they're excited and ready to take on the challenge."
On the men's side, four ranked opponents await the Bulldogs, highlighted by second-ranked Florida. No. 8 LSU, the 12th-ranked hosts Arkansas and No. 17 Oregon round out the ranked opponents for State's men. Kentucky joins the fold as one of five SEC programs represented.
MSU's women will face five ranked foes, all inside the top 10 of the USTFCCCA TFRI rankings. Top-ranked host Arkansas leads the pack, followed by No. 6 Florida, No. 8 Kentucky, No. 9 LSU and No. 10 Oregon.
Also competing this weekend are Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State and Purdue.
The Bulldogs get the weekend started with the pentathlon, featuring SEC Freshman of the Week Asia Poe and Zaria Tillman, beginning with the 60m hurdles at 12:25 p.m. CT. The men's 200m will close out the first day of competition, set for a 7:05 p.m. start. The men's high jump, women's weight throw and both 200m races will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
MSU gets started at noon on Saturday with the women's 400m, featuring McKenzie Ethridge, Alon Lewis and Riley White. Live televised coverage begins at 1 p.m., with MSU making their 2019 TV debut at 1:31 p.m. when Charles Brockman III and Herbert Wise III run the men's 60m hurdles.
At 2:36 p.m., 2018 NCAA Outdoor 800m runner-up Marco Arop and 2018 Indoor All-American Dejon Devroe take to the oval in the men's 800m invitational. State will close out the live TV window at 4:13 p.m. in the men's 4x400m relay invitational.
