STARKVILLE – As many as five former Diamond Dawgs could be competing with their teams in the 2018 Major League Baseball Postseason.

Mitch Moreland is the only former Bulldog assured a spot as the Boston Red Sox clinched on Wednesday, August 12. Jonathan Holder and the New York Yankees currently trail Boston in the American League East Division race, but have a one-game lead for the first AL Wild Card spot with 91 wins.

In the National League, Milwaukee (Brandon Woodruff), St. Louis (Dakota Hudson) and Pittsburgh (Adam Frazier) are all part of a competitive Central Division race, which the Chicago Cubs currently lead by 2.5 games.

While the Pirates have the toughest remaining schedule of the five to make postseason play at seven games back in the wild card race, Frazier is powering through for his team. On Monday (Sept. 17), Frazier fouled a ball off his knee during his second at-bat, only to double and score. Frazier later left the game with knee discomfort after providing two hits and a walk in Pittsburgh's win.

Since his recall to MLB on July 25, Frazier is batting .324 with 47 hits, 17 doubles, five home runs and 24 RBIs in 44 games.

Despite being mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, Chris Stratton is giving his best to the San Francisco Giants. On Friday, Stratton threw the first complete game of his career, shutting out Colorado while striking out seven batters and allowing only two hits.

In his last five starts, Stratton has compiled a 2.10 ERA while allowing a miniscule .168 batting average to opposing hitters.

Nate Lowe is set to play in Tuesday's (Sept. 28) Triple-A National Championship with his Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Ray affiliate) squaring off against Hudson's former team, the Memphis Redbirds (St. Louis Cardinals affiliate). Lowe and the Bulls clinched its spot in the contest with a five-game series win over the Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

In Single-A, Konnor Pilkington's Great Falls Voyagers (Minnesota Twins affiliate) completed a two-game sweep of Hunter Stovall and the Grand Junction Rockies (Colorado Rockies affiliate) in the Pioneer League finals. Stovall went 4-for-8 between the two contests, with a home run and three RBIs. For the season, Stovall batted .296 with 10 homers and 41 RBIs over 49 games.
