BRYAN, Texas – Dusty Smith's Mississippi State men's golf team prepares to open NCAA Men's Golf Championship Regional play Monday through Wednesday in Bryan, Texas.
The three-round, 54-hole event will take place at the par-72, 7,146-yard Traditions Club.
"This is the time of year we all look forward to," Smith, who has the Bulldogs in the postseason in his first year, said. "Our guys have earned this opportunity, and I am excited to watch them compete this week. This week is going to be a great test for our team."
It will be MSU's first regional appearance since the 2013-14 season.
Five teams and the highest-placing individual from a non-advancing team will move from the Bryan Regional to the 30-team national championships, May 25-30 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla.
Texas A&M hosts the 13-team regional made up of Baylor, Clemson, Kentucky, UCLA, Ole Miss, South Carolina, San Francisco, Georgia, UNC-Wilmington, Northern Colorado and Bradley. MSU is the No. 10 seed.
Dusty Smith's regional starting lineup includes the same five players he's gone with for four consecutive tournaments.
For the 11th time in as many tournaments, sophomore Peng Pichaikool, senior Taylor Grant and sophomore Garrett Johnson occupy the first three spots. Senior Taylor Bibbs and freshman Cameron Clarke fill out the lineup card.
Freshman Hunter Hammett also traveled with the team as a substitute.
Monday's opening round will begin at 7:30 a.m. CT, and Mississippi State will tee off at 8:55 a.m. from hole No. 10. You can follow the Golf Dawgs all day using Golfstat.

"This is the time of year we all look forward to. Our guys have earned this opportunity, and I am excited to watch them compete this week. This week is going to be a great test for our team. It will take great toughness, great body language, great discipline, great focus and a great mindset in order for us to be the best version of us. We have taken all the proper steps up to this point. The greatest challenge for us will be to focus on what we can control and to not worry about anything else. We know what we are capable of when we have our minds where they need to be. Ultimately, it comes down to the teams that are unselfish, together and sold out to the process that are the most successful this time of the year. I am looking forward to watching these guys compete for each other this week."
