Bulldogs Sweep 4x400m Relays to Close Tennessee Relays
April 14, 2018 | Track & Field
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Mississippi State claimed both the men's and women's 4x400m titles at the Tennessee Relays on Saturday.
The women's team of Alon Lewis, Monica Mosley, Riley White and Keturah Smith ran the second-fastest time in MSU outdoor history, finishing in 3:34.77. That mark is the No. 11 time in the NCAA.
Charles Brockman III, Rasheed Tatham, Stephan James and Juston Waters ran a 3:06.38, the Bulldogs' fastest time of the season. That mark is No. 8 in the nation and third in the Southeastern Conference.
"That was a great way for us to end what was, at times, a frustrating weekend," head coach Steve Dudley said. "It's always good to see people moving in the right direction and getting faster as the season progresses."
Reggie Miller placed second in the high jump with a personal-best 2.12m (6-11.5) jump. Alexis Farley came up three centimeters short of her personal best in the triple jump where she finished fifth with a wind-aided mark of 12.92m (42-4.75).
The men's 4x800m relay team of Kenya Small, Daniel Nixon, Freddie Jackson III and Marco Arop ran a 7:32.35 to finish second. The women's 4x100m relay turned in a season-best. Justice Sims, Faith Gilbert, McKenzie Ethridge and Keturah Smith ran 46.65 to finish 10th.
As a team, the Bulldogs improved on their top mark of the season in 16 events. They have now bettered their top mark of 2017 in 19 events on the year.
