State Women’s Tennis Continues Road Swing At Alabama Saturday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Closing out its first weekend SEC road swing of 2018, Mississippi State's women's tennis team (9-5, 0-3 SEC) travels to No. 49 Alabama (12-6, 0-3 SEC) for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The match is slated for 12 p.m. CT at the Alabama Tennis Stadium.
Last Time Out for MSU…
In their last outing Thursday, State fell in a 4-0 decision to No. 18 Auburn, a very close contest despite what the score reflected. Even though the Tigers took the doubles point, MSU rebounded in singles to take four of the six first sets. In the end, four matches would go three sets with one straight-set affair also coming down to the wire. When the match was suspended, the Bulldogs held leads on two of the three remaining matches.
About Alabama…
No. 49 Alabama is coming off a tough 4-2 loss to No. 12 Ole Miss Thursday. Despite taking the doubles point, UA could not overcome the Rebels in singles. The Tide boasts one ranked singles player in No. 124 Andie Daniell.
What to Note As MSU Faces Alabama
· Alabama leads the all-time series against MSU 35-15
· In the last meeting (2017), MSU defeated the Tide in a close 4-3 decision in Starkville
· The Bulldogs currently hold a three-match win streak in the series
· The Maroon & White won the last matchup in Tuscaloosa, blanking UA 7-0 in 2016
· Both programs are looking for their first conference win of the season
