No. 25 MSU Women’s Tennis Travels To No. 33 Texas A&M Friday
March 29, 2018 | Women's Tennis
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Looking to extend a school-record, five-match league winning streak, the 25th-ranked Mississippi State's women's tennis team (14-5, 5-3 SEC) continues its current road swing at No. 33 Texas A&M (14-4, 4-3 SEC) for a Friday evening matchup. The match is slated for 5 p.m. CT at A&M's Mitchell Tennis Center.
State heads to College Station on quite a tear. After dropping their first three SEC matchups of 2018, all to current Top 15 teams, the Bulldogs have rebounded with five in a row, starting with a 4-3 thriller at Alabama and continuing with home wins over No. 2 Vanderbilt and No. 14 Kentucky. Most recently, MSU downed Missouri and Arkansas on the road last weekend.
Last Time Out for MSU…
In another match that came down to the wire, the Bulldogs claimed the doubles point at Arkansas for an early 1-0 lead as the duo of Madison Harrison and Khrystyna Vozniak pulled off their second upset of the season on court 1 and the tandem of Magda Adaloglou and Janina Braun won a tiebreak at No. 2.
In singles, four matches went three sets with yet another tiebreak amongst them. State's Vozniak was the first off the courts with a three-set victory at No. 6 to improve to 10-2 in dual matches this spring. On court 1, MSU's Harrison posted a big upset of the nation's 55th-ranked player, also in a three-set affair. Continuing the recent norm for the Maroon & White, for the fifth-straight time Anastasia Rentouli posted yet another third-set victory to clinch and secure the Bulldogs' 4-3 triumph over the Razorbacks.
