Bulldogs Take First and Second at Jaguar Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Mississippi State's Anderson Peters and Nicolas Quijera took first and second, respectively, in the javelin throw at the Jaguar Classic late Friday night.
The two opened the outdoor season a week earlier than the full MSU squad, which will host the Bulldog Relays on March 23-24.
"It was a long, cold and rainy day," throws coach April Thomas said. "They didn't take all of their throws because of the bad weather, but we were still able to finish first and second. This was a good chance for them to sort of catch up to the rest of the team that was able to compete indoors earlier this year."
Peters, the Grenadian national record holder, opened his MSU career with a throw of 63.14m (207-2). He then followed with the fifth-best throw in Bulldog history at 71.58m (234-10) to win the event. He did not throw again.
Quijera made only one throw, launching the javelin 67.95m (222-11). That was good for second place without the need for a second toss.
