STARKVILLE – With the 2018 cross country season nearing its close, Mississippi State is set for its second postseason meet of the year, as it treks to Tallahassee, Florida, for the 2018 NCAA South Region Championships on Friday.
Hosted by Florida State, the meet will be held at Apalachee Regional Park. The women's 6K will open up the day at 7:30 a.m. CT, with the men's 10K to follow at 8:30 a.m. Both races will be streamed live on NCAA.com, with Mike Caldwell providing commentary.
"This is one of the meets each season that you work so hard for all year long," head coach Houston Franks said. "The last few meets haven't been up to our standard, but Friday is a great opportunity to show how good we can really be. There are several good teams in our region, and we all know we have to be at our very best."
In the preseason coaches' poll, the Bulldogs were predicted to finish fifth in the region.
The women's race features four ranked teams, including No. 21 Florida, No. 23 Ole Miss, No. 29 Georgia and 30th-ranked Georgia Tech. Host Florida State also received votes in the most recent rankings released on Oct. 30. On the men's side, MSU will face a pair of ranked teams in Ole Miss (17th) and Tennessee (30th).
Live results for the meet can be found here.
