STARKVILLE, Miss.– Pre-qualifying play kicks off at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Men's All-American Championships on Saturday in Tulsa, Okla., as two members of the Mississippi State men's tennis team will compete in singles action.
MSU rookies Florian Broska and Hunter Harrison will compete in pre-qualifying singles action starting on Saturday and ending Sunday. Those two will look to advance to qualifying, which begins Monday, Oct. 2. Four Bulldogs—Niclas Braun, Trevor Foshey, No. 67 Strahinja Rakic and Giovanni Oradini are already entered in the qualifying draw.
State's second-ranked All-American Nuno Borges will start his singles action on Thursday, Oct. 5, in the main draw. All six of his teammates look to join the 2017 NCAA Singles semifinalist there.
In doubles play, the seventh-ranked pair of Braun and Foshey are in the main draw, while Borges and Rakic will up in qualifying.
This year marks the 13th-straight year that the University of Tulsa will serve as the official tournament host, and most of the action during the two-week event will take place on the courts of the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
"This event is always great for our new guys to see what's out there," MSU coach Matt Roberts said. "They will start Saturday and learn a lot through the event. The older guys are excited to continue what they worked on last week with the upcoming matches. The University of Tulsa runs a great event and we are excited to be a part of it once again."
Up Next For MSU
After wrapping up play in Tulsa, State will head south to Houston, Texas, to compete in the USTA Futures held on Oct. 6-15.
