Broska, Harrison Drop Pre-Qualifying Matches At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. – Play for the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championships got underway Saturday for two members of the Mississippi State men's tennis team.
Florian Broska received a bye into the second round, where he dropped a tight 7-5, 6-4 decision to Nebraska's William Smith.
In his MSU debut, Hunter Harrison fell in a tough three-setter against Miami's Dane Dunlap, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
Broska and Harrison will each play in a consolation match on Sunday. Broska will face Antonio Selma of Troy at 9 a.m., while Harrison will take on Loic Blanco of Stetson at 2 p.m.
Bulldogs Strahinja Rakic, Giovanni Oradini, Trevor Foshey and Niclas Braun open up qualifying singles play on Monday. Nuno Borges and Rakic will also compete in qualifying doubles action. All of those players will be looking to advance to the tournament's main draw, which begins Thursday.
The All-American Borges, ranked No. 2 nationally, is already entered in the 64-player singles main draw. Braun and Foshey, No. 7-ranked as a doubles tandem, are also already entered in that 32-team field.
