Bulldogs Return Home To Host Central Arkansas

STARKVILLE, Miss. – Following its first road win of the season on Thursday, the Mississippi State soccer team returns home for the first of three straight home matches.
The Bulldogs (3-0) will host Central Arkansas (1-2) on Sunday, Aug. 27, and admission to the 1 p.m. match is free. Fans can also watch the live stream of the contest on SEC Network+ with Anthony Craven and Bart Gregory on the call.
Promotions for Sunday's match includes Ice Cream Sunday, with free ice cream being served to fans in attendance.
"Central Arkansas wins a lot games and is predicted to repeat as conference champs because they are a very good team," coach Tom Anagnost said. "We need to come out strong and be opportunistic on Sunday."
State looks to build on its 1-0 win at Louisiana Tech on Thursday night, in which Kelly Dorney scored the deciding goal on a penalty kick in the 84th minute when her try sailed past the diving LA Tech goalkeeper.
MSU and Central Arkansas have never met on the pitch.
Scouting Central Arkansas
Central Arkansas comes to Starkville with a 1-2 record on the year after dropping a 1-0 decision at home to Missouri State on Friday night, in which UCA outshot Missouri State 13-12.
In the preseason, the Bears were chosen to repeat as Southland Conference champions after finishing 15-4-1 last season and return eight starters from last season's squad.
Next Up For The Bulldogs
The Bulldogs continue their home stretch with two more home matches next weekend. On Friday, Sept. 1, State will host Houston at 7 p.m., followed by an 11 a.m. match against Colgate on Sunday, Sept. 3.
Friday's match is a "Maroon Friday Maroon-Out" and free Maroon Friday shirts will be given out. Also, fans will have an opportunity to win tickets to Saturday's football season opener against Charleston Southern.
On Sunday, State's 10 seniors will be honored at the match for Senior Day. Fans will also be treated to a maroon stadium cup giveaway.
