STARKVILLE, Miss. – A standout attacker from the state of Texas will be joining Mississippi State University starting this season, as David McFatrich announced the addition of Brooklyn Lochner to the Bulldog Volleyball program.
"We are really excited to have Brooklyn joining the Bulldog Volleyball family," McFatrich said. "She's a lefty right side coming in from the Austin Juniors Volleyball Club, one of the best in the state, and we expect her to give us some depth at the right side position."
"I chose Mississippi State because of the competitive and energetic nature of the coaching staff and because I have always dreamed of playing in the SEC," Lochner said. "While visiting MSU I knew I could call it home because of how school spirited everyone is and how friendly the people are in Starkville. MSU has a family atmosphere that is hard to find at most universities."
A right side attacker on head coach Carrie Sulak's Hendrickson High School Hawks squad, Lochner pulled in numerous honors including earning Second Team 13-6A All-District honors and team offensive MVP in 2015 and 2016. Behind 307 kills, 57 blocks and 89 digs, she helped lead the Hawks to a third-place finish in the district and an appearance in the second round of the playoffs during her final year.
The Pflugerville, Texas native also reeled in All-Tournament Team honors at the Hays Rebel Bash and Volleypalooza, adding to a stellar senior season.
Lochner recorded 133 kills, 243 digs, 117 assists, 45 blocks and 19 aces in her junior season. The year prior, Lochner's 135 kills, 174 digs, 121 assists, 36 blocks and 33 aces, helped lead HHS to a 34-8 overall record and 14-0 district record, claiming the district championship and reaching the third round of the playoffs.
On the club stage, Lochner played for head coach Amy Farber Knowles. She led her squad to a third-place finish at the USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championship in 2015 and a second-place finish at AAU's in 2014, along with capturing the Lone Star Regional Championship in 2013.
Born on March 4, 1999 in Austin, Texas, Lochner is the daughter of Tim and Gina Lochner and has one sister, Katelyn. The freshman will major in accounting at MSU.
