No. 33 MSU Women’s Tennis Hits Road To No. 5 Vanderbilt Friday

STARKVILLE, Miss. – After a thrilling 4-3 victory Sunday over Alabama, the 33rd-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (8-2, 1-1 SEC) travels for their first away Southeastern Conference match at fifth-ranked Vanderbilt (7-4, 2-0 SEC) on Friday. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. CT start at VU's Currey Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs are looking to keep the momentum going after a 4-3 win on Sunday that came down to the final match on court 6.
State's lone senior, 54th-ranked all-American Jasmine Lee, went a combined 3-1 over the opening conference weekend. Lee recorded two ranked singles wins including an upset of Auburn's 36th-ranked Alizee Michaud.
Bulldogs Anastasia Rentouli and Sara Lizariturry aided in Sunday's victory with wins at their respective positions. After a tough victory from Rentouli, the freshman Lizariturry provided the exciting match-clinching win in a down-to-the-wire three-set triumph on court 6.
The MSU lineup is rounded out with Madison Harrison, Lisa Marie Rioux and Khrystyna Vozniak who all have SEC doubles victories but look to break through with their first conference wins in singles this weekend.
Vanderbilt enters Friday's match after posting a 2-0 record over the opening weekend, both on the road against top 20 foes. The Commodores downed No. 12 Tennessee 6-1 in Knoxville before upending No. 18 Georgia 4-2 in Athens.
In singles, VU is led by fifth-ranked Astra Sharma, eighth-ranked Sydney Campbell and No. 65 Christina Rosca. On the doubles side, the Commodores boast the nation's 20th-ranked duo of Sharma and Emily Smith. Sharma also pairs with Emma Kurtz to rank No. 45. Smith also teams with Fernanda Contreras to form No. 57.
