STARKVILLE, Miss. – After cruising to a shutout victory on Friday afternoon, the 41st-ranked Mississippi State women's tennis team (9-4, 2-3 SEC) sets its sights on 15th-ranked Arkansas (13-2, 4-0 SEC) as the Bulldogs cap their home weekend on Sunday.
The match is slated for a 1 p.m. CT start time at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre. Live video and stats will be available for the match at www.hailstate.com/livewt.
State is looking to carry momentum from Friday's 4-0 win over No. 42 Missouri, which marked the Bulldogs' third-straight win against the Tigers. The Maroon and White won all of its singles matches in straight sets against Mizzou.
State's lone senior, 57th-ranked all-American Jasmine Lee, improved to 15-5 on the season in singles action and 4-1 in conference play with her win Friday. True freshman Lisa Marie Rioux notched her 13th singles victory of the season while picking up her second conference victory against the Tigers.
Posting her second conference win and second match-clinching victory, freshman Sara Lizariturry improved to 14-7 on the season Friday. Bulldogs Jennifer Brown, Madison Harrison, Anastasia Rentouli and Khrystyna Vozniak round out the lineup for State. All three were in position to win on Friday as well when play was suspended.
The Bulldogs were also impressive in doubles Friday, claiming 6-3 and 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and 2 positions, respectively. Lee and Rioux, ranked 13th nationally together, led the way while improving their overall record to 17-4 as a tandem.
Arkansas enters Sunday's match after posting its own 4-0 shutout, against No. 25 Ole Miss Friday in Oxford. Currently tied for the SEC lead with Vanderbilt at 4-0, the Razorbacks are on an impressive 10-match win streak, the longest in the league.
In singles, the Razorbacks are led by 64th-ranked Shannon Hudson and No. 118 Ana Oparenovic. In doubles, Hudson pairs with Giulia Pairone to led UA. That tandem pulled off an upset over Ole Miss's 33rd-ranked Arianna Hartono and Anna Vrbenska on Friday.
