AUBURN, Ala. – To conclude play at the ITA Southern Regional Championships, the Mississippi State women's tennis team's Sara Lizariturry fell in semifinal action Sunday after a strong run through the weekend.

The sophomore Lizariturry began the day with a come-from-behind quarterfinal victory against fellow MSU teammate Janina Braun 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. In the semifinals, the Bulldog was held off by fourth-seeded and 60th-ranked Taylor Russo of tournament host Auburn 6-4, 6-3 to end her run in the singles main draw.

Lizariturry, unseeded in the event, composed a 4-1 record for the weekend, knocking off two seeded players and one ranked foe. The State newcomer Braun also had solid weekend at 3-1 with an upset to her credit.

State opened the weekend very strong, leading the tournament by placing four players in the main draw's Round of 16 – Braun, Lizariturry, freshman Magda Adaloglou and junior Anastasia Rentouli.
